What is Self-Determination?
The Self-Determination Program is a government initiative available exclusively in the State of California.
It provides support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Unlike traditional government services, the Self-Determination Program gives individuals and their families full control over the services they receive. Through this program, families are able to choose and hire their own service providers using public funds, allowing them to select the options that best meet their needs based on both quality and cost.
This is a highly innovative program because many of the services a neurodivergent individual may need are often difficult to find or may not exist at all. The Self-Determination Program makes it possible not only to access services, but to create new, customized services tailored to the individual.
At Determination Consulting Group, we specialize in designing these personalized programs and connecting individuals with highly qualified providers who can deliver the support they truly need. Our services come at no cost to the individual or their family, as facilitator services are funded by the State of California.

How We Can Help You
We offer a wide range of services for people with intellectual disabilities, built around the creation of individualized programs tailored to the needs, aspirations, abilities, and even personal preferences of each user and their family.
These programs are designed through personal contact and interviews with the beneficiary and their families, and are then presented to the relevant government authorities to secure the resources and services needed to carry them out.
The complexity of our work means navigating and overcoming all the legal and bureaucratic challenges involved in getting a personalized program approved — one that, because it is custom-made for each individual user, may be unique and subject to very specific government requirements. That is why we personally accompany the parent, mother, or legal guardian of the person with an intellectual disability to their corresponding Regional Center, helping them avoid confusion, unnecessary back-and-forth, or denials due to missing requirements.
